PCD Completes UC Davis’s Largest Lecture Hall
As part of the “Active Learning Campus” trend in new construction, California Hall includes rotating seats and tables where students face their peers to work in teams instead of sitting and working solo.
California Hall was nominated for LEED-gold and Net-Zero Ready designation. Skylights throughout the building help reduce the electrical footprint, which can be a challenge for AV presentation systems due to ambient light. PCD installed three 15-foot X 24-foot DNP Supernova Infinity Screens, considered “high-gain” projection screens, which allow them to be utilized in bright natural or fluorescent light. In addition, three 98” Planar touch screens for class notes and three confidence monitors showing the instructor what the students see were also installed.
The Audio Visual sound system installation includes Extron and Crestron control systems, Middle Atlantic racks with LabGruppen power amps, Symetrix DSP, Shure microphones, Audio-Technica microphones, Vaddio PTZ cameras, Planar 98” touch displays, Soundtube line array loudspeakers, QSC ceiling speakers, JBL desktop speakers, Williams Sound Soundplus infrared system for hearing assistance, and a Sonic Foundry Mediasite recorder which provides capture, management, delivery and search within live and on-demand streaming media.
