PCD is celebrating 40 years of excellence as an Audio / Video Integrator. Companies are not around for 40 years without many satisfied clients. We would like to share some comments we have recently received:
Recently, PCD released a solution to our clients’ common AV issues by introducing AV as a Service (AVaaS). AVaaS provides options for customers to pay for audio visual equipment and services monthly, without a large cash payment up front. Customers can opt in to an AVaaS contract for a recurring fee and receive the flexibility to add or remove services or equipment after an initial contract term is completed and as their AV needs fluctuate through the years.
PCD offers Maintenance Agreements beyond the initial PCD warranty. This enables our clients to have an audio / video system performing at the highest level while being able to build the costs into their annual budget.
As the world leader in speech privacy technology, AtlasIED offers a full array of sound masking solutions that can be deployed in any installation where speech privacy is critical. A sound masking system emits low-level, non-distracting masking noise specifically tuned and designed to reduce ambient speech and thereby improve speech privacy. This improvement in speech privacy can be of great value in open-plan offices, doctors’ examination rooms and other environments where confidentiality is important. Sound masking can also reduce the distraction caused by traffic, office machinery and other unwanted sounds. Because this benefit is limited to situations where the unwanted sounds are of relatively low level, however, speech privacy is the focus of most sound masking systems.
Anticipating the beginning of a new year, we generally think about what we hope the year will bring to us. Meeting new people, completing exciting projects and making a difference for our clients.

Our first commitment is to our employees and community. In the meantime, the PCD employees who are able to report to work are picking up the load in order to assure our clients are being served.
Great things are on the horizon at PCD. As the new year approaches, we have refreshed and relaunched our PCD brand. As the trusted AV integrator in northern California for the past 35+ years, we wanted to honor PCD’s past in an expressive yet significant way. It was important to PCD to maintain the integrity of our brand while keeping our sights on the fast moving and ever changing technology in the AV industry. PCD’s vision for the future is:
PCD recently completed an AV integration for the theater, LED video wall, and gym at the Rothschild Performing Arts Center/Harker School in San Jose, CA.
A City Council chambers is a place for the elected representatives to come together alongside the public for matters of policy, so it’s vital for it to be a space that encourages ease of communication. The audio system should work smoothly and allow for good quality of sound so that everyone in the area can hear the proceedings. Ideally, it’s also beneficial to have the proceedings televised throughout the building so that those who can’t be in the chambers itself can still observe. Additionally, with today’s technology digitally recording for archival and streaming to cable TV local channel or to web site and Facebook amongst other venues is a driving demand nowadays.
Hayward Unified School District has undertaken a massive project to modernize high schools in the district. This involves major renovations to three high school stadiums. While upgrading these stadiums, construction crews completed a total demolition of existing stadium structures. They installed new artificial turf, track, bleachers, lighting, and sound systems.
One of the most exciting parts about being involved in the AV industry are the trade shows they put together. InfoComm, for example, is the largest audiovisual technology trade show in the country and a winner of the TSNN Award for Top Trade Shows. We recently attended the 2018 conference in Las Vegas, and after three days of viewing the latest and greatest AV technology for the commercial sector, we feel totally invigorated.
In the June 20th 2018 edition of Sound & Communications Magazine, PCD was honored to be highlighted for our work at Harker School and Rothschild Performing Arts Center. The article showcases the ways that Rothschild Performing Arts Center rivals world-class venues thanks to its gorgeous construction and cutting edge use of audiovisual technology. Guests were treated to beautiful images displayed on the large videowalls throughout the facility.
As mentioned back in our November 2017 blog, PCD has been working on rebranding and relaunching our www.pcdinc.net website. In the fast paced world of AV, we wanted our new look to reflect PCD’s determination to constantly move forward and remain fluid in an ever changing world. Regarding the ever changing audio video industry, PCD is always dedicated to bringing our clients’ WOW to reality and remains responsive to all clients’ needs, big or small.
San Rafael and Piner High Schools have recently undergone stadium revitalization projects on each campus funded by local tax bond Measures A & B. Construction crews completed minor demolition at each site and installed new all-weather turf, track, bleachers, lighting, and sound systems.
The Problem
PCD has had a working relationship installing Audio Visual systems at Gott’s Roadside for years, from back when they were previously known as Taylor’s Refresher. PCD has contacted again in 2018 to provide additional upgrades to Gott’s original AV system. From being called in for the repair of a microphone to gaining trust to design and install a complete sound system for the entire facility, once the management team at Gott’s realized we are a quality contractor and can efficiently execute what has been proposed for a solution without incidents and obstacles, PCD was the chosen contractor for continued needs as the company grows.
As the holiday season approaches I think to myself, each year really does fly by faster than the year before. It’s surprising how many events happen over the course of the year, from family and friends gathering to business meetings, projects beginning and jobs completed here at PCD.
As the calendar turns and the year-end events are looming, the realization hits that the people who are well versed in operating the complex systems for the theater, auditorium or multipurpose room need a refresher on the system’s use. What can you do? We have you covered. Call us to set up a training session. The amount of time will vary depending on the system but is generally 2 to 4 hours. Also let us know if you need a tune up for the system. Our techs are booked in advance, and at this time of the year in high demand, so please make your appointment as soon as possible.
In 2006, PCD designed a new sound system for the Rec Center at the Sonoma State University Campus. The goal was to have independent audio and a high-quality sound reinforcement system tied into the aesthetics of the new space, including the Exercise Rooms, Fitness Rooms, Gymnasium, Large Gym, Lobby, Rock Wall area, and Training Room. PCD designed a new system using Peavey Media Matrix as the backbone of the system. This allows the various wireless microphones and local audio inputs to be controlled by the local wall-mounted control panel so SSU staff could select the music source from satellite music (DirecTV) or local inputs from the phone or iPod. The system has been working well for years.
