Hayward High School Stadiums Go High Tech
Hayward Unified School District has undertaken a massive project to modernize high schools in the district. This involves major renovations to three high school stadiums. While upgrading these stadiums, construction crews completed a total demolition of existing stadium structures. They installed new artificial turf, track, bleachers, lighting, and sound systems.
PCD worked with the same construction team for all three sites. We were able to build a good working relationship with the construction crew to ensure the successful completion of the three projects. In our line of work, we often coordinate with contractors, designers, and other professionals on different worksites. This is a chance for productive collaboration that gives our clients excellent results!
In the new stadiums we installed sound reinforcement on the visitor and home bleacher sides. The rack of equipment was installed in the press box for easy access by the users. Community R.5-94Z speakers with Bogen M600 amplifiers, Shure SM58 and WL 185 microphones, and dbx DriveRack 260 Digital Sound Processor were the desired devices. Aiming of the speakers and programming of the DSP was carefully specified by the PCD engineering team and executed by the tech team to achieve optimal sound quality throughout the stadium. Whatever events the space is used for – sporting events, pep rallies, student assemblies, graduations, band exercises, and more – the sound will be clearly heard from every seat in the stadium. In addition, every stadium is equipped with Williams Sound assisted listening devices so those with hearing impairment can enjoy the activities as well.
From design to assisting with selection of the proper equipment to installation, our company was directly involved with every step of integrating a modern sound system into the renovated stadiums. With the help of PCD, three high schools in Hayward now have state-of-the-art sound systems that will serve their student populations for years to come!
